Hey there!
Estimated read time: 3 minute 12 seconds
Ever heard of HeadshotPro?
HeadshotPro is an AI headshot generator made by Danny Postma.
In May 2024 alone, they got:

211k website traffic per month
Assuming 1% conversion to paid user at $49 average revenue per paying user, it’s a $100k/mo business 👀
Insane project.
Now let’s break down their marketing game.
TL;DR
Huge traffic gained from SEO, Paid ads and UGC social media content.
Probably using cold email to get enterprise customers.
Press coverage to improve landing page conversion.
1. SEO is king.
HeadshotPro have a solid strategy with SEO blogs, free tools and building backlinks.
They have good domain rating and 10k+ dofollow links.

They made free tool that generates tons of traffic every month too.

They also got blog writer’s coverage for extra backlinks and authority.

2. Run Facebook ads to scale.
HeadshotPro actively run Meta ads as well.
They mainly run straight forward image and video ads. Likely also using retargeting to focus on people who visited their website earlier.

3. Buy keywords. Dead simple.
For their Google Ads game, it’s very simple. Buy keywords like “AI headshot” or “Headshot” as people with professional headshot need always search on Google.

4. Sponsor TikTokers for overnight virality.
HeadshotPro also sponsored TikTok creator to make short-form videos about their product.
This make sense as headshot or image generation AI in general have a board and general appeal, so running short form content make a lot of sense.
They would collaborate with US/European creator in the lifestyle or professional niche.

5. PR matters in the professional market.
One smart move Danny did is to get PR from big media and publisher.
Because people who need headshot are professionals, and professionals are familiar with these sites. It builds rapid rapport and trust.
Hence boosting conversion.

6. Cold email?
From their website, you can see that they have a team plan.
Imagine a corporate sales team with 50+ team member needing professional headshot.
That’s their potential customer.
Therefore I believe they are also running cold email campaign actively. But since email is a hidden channel so no information can be found.

Note: all the above information and data are retrieved from data providers like Semrush and Meta, there could be error and are mostly assumptions.
